Measurements:

4.5 inches

To obtain a slightly bigger size you can use a size 5:00mm (H8) hook.

Level: Intermediate

Materials:

  • I love this yarn size 4 worsted weight yarn from Hobby Lobby, you can also use 24/7 cotton yarn available at cutieoutfitsbybelle.com

Abbreviations:

  • ch - chain
  • sp – space
  • beg- beginning
  • sk - skip
  • st - stitch
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • dc V st- double crochet V stitch ( 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc worked in the same sp or stitch)
  • tc - triple crochet (also known as treble crochet)
  • shell st – shell stitch (2dc, ch 1, 2 dc worked in the same space

or stitch)

  • tc shell st – triple crochet (also known as treble crochet) (2tc, ch 1, 2 tc
  • [] = total number of stitches at the end of each row/round

 

 

Notes:

  1. Ch 1 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch

unless specified.

  1. Weave in ends or bury in ends as you work.
  2. Make shell sts in the ch 1 space of the previous shell st.
  3. For the last round the shell sts will have ch 2 instead of ch 1 in the middle

 

Instructions

Row 1

Ch 3, (1 shell st, ch 3, 1 shell st) worked in the third ch from the hook. Turn

[2 shell sts]

 

Row 2

Ch 2, 1 dc in the same st that you just ch 2, 1 dc on top of the next dc, 1 shell st in the ch 1 sp of the shell st from previous round, 1 dc on top of the next 2 dc sts, 1 tc shell st in the ch 3 sp from previous row, 1 dc on top of the next 2 dc sts, 1 shell in the ch 1 sp of the shell st from previous round, 1 dc in the last 2 dc sts, 1 dc on top of the ch 2. Turn

Row 3

Ch 1, 1 dc in the same st that you just ch 1, 1 dc in the next 4 sts, 2 dc in the ch 1 of the shell st from previous row, 1 hdc in the next 6 sts, 1 shell st in the ch 1 sp of the shell st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 6 sts, 2 dc in the ch 1 sp of the shell st from previous round, 1 dc in the last 4 sts, 1 dc on top of the ch 2. Attach

 color B yarn

 

Row 4 (See Picture)

Make 5 tc in the center of the heart (this is the same st where you made the shells sts in the first row, it is the third ch from the hook). Sl st on top of the first dc from row 3 to begin working around

 

Round 5

NOTE: all shell sts (dc shell and tc shell sts) should have a ch 2 in the middle instead of ch 1 for this round.

 

Ch 1, 1 dc in the same st that you just ch 1, 1 shell st in the next st (first corner), 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 sc  in the next 4 sts, 1 dc in the next 3 sts, 1 tc shell st in the next st (second corner), 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 sc in the next 3 sts (the second sc should be placed in the ch 1 sp of the shell st from previous row), 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 tc shell st in the next st (third corner), 1 dc in the next 3 sts, 1 sc in the next 4 sts, 1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 shell st in the next st (fourth corner), 1 dc in the next st, 1 dc on top of  each of the next 5 tc from previous round. Sl st on top of the first dc to end this round.

 

Finishing

Weave in any end that you may have forgotten.
