Spring Baby Dress

This little dress is perfect for spring time because it is made with cotton yarn using a lovely pastel color. You can create different combinations as long as you use the same hook and yarn size😊

Measurements:

Finished Chest: 14 inches

Finished Length: 11.5

Level: Intermediate

Materials:

• Sinfonia Cotton Yarn. This is sport weight yarn (#3), approximately 1 skein of pink mixed and less than 1 oz of white. This yarn is available in my Etsy shop and my Website.
• Crochet hook 4.5 mm or hook required to achieve gauge.
• Thread and needle to attach button.
• One small button 5/8 in (16mm)
• stitch markers for round 3

Gauge; 17 stiches = 4 inches; 11 rows =4" in HDC. Use any hook size to obtain this gauge.

Abbreviations:

• ch - chain
• sp - space
• sk - skip
• st - stitch
• sl st - slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• hdc – half double crochet
• hdc V st- half double crochet V stitch (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc)
• dc- double crochet
• dc V st – double crochet V stitch (1 dc, chain 1, 1 dc in the

same st)

• Shell st- Shell stitch (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc)
• hdc shell st- hdc shell stitch (3 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc)
• * = repeat whatever follows the* as indicated.

Bobble Stitch

1. Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two. (This is the same as making the first half of one double crochet stitch.)
2. Repeat step one in the same st/sp 5 times. You should have a total of 6 loops on your hook
3. Yarn over, pull through all 6 loops at one. Bobble stitch made.

Notes:

1. Ch 2 at the beginning of each round and row does not count as a stitch

unless specified.

2. Weave in ends or bury ends as you work.
3. Measure chest when you finish row 5 to make sure that you are getting the correct chest measurement.

4. Make V sts in the ch 1 space.

With pink yarn ch 67, make one hdc in the fourth ch from the hook (button opening), 1 hdc in the next 7 sts, 1 hdc V st in the next st (1 hdc, ch 1, 1 hdc), 1 hdc in the next 14 sts, 1 hdc V st in the next st, 1 hdc in the next 16 sts, 1 hdc V st in the next st, 1 hdc in the next 14 sts, 1 hdc V st in the next st, 1 hdc in the next 8 sts.

Row 2

Ch 2 (does not count as a st), 1 hdc in the same ch 2 st, 1 hdc in the next 8 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 16 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 18 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 16 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 9 sts.

Row 3

Note: Please mark the hdc V st in this round because those are used for the division of the sleeves and they are easy to get confused with the dc V sts that are used for the the edges of the sleeves.

Ch 1 ( does not count as a st), 1 hdc in the same ch 2 st, 1 hdc in the next 9 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 dc Vst in the next 18 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 20 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round,  1 dc V st in the next 18 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 10 sts. Join to the first hdc of the row to start working around.

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the same ch 1 st, 1 hdc in the next 10 sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st that you marked on previous row, 1 dc V st in the ch 1 sp of of the next 18 dc V sts from previous row, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st that you marked on previous row, 1 hdc in the next 22sts, 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st that you marked on previous row,  1 dc Vst in the ch 1 sp of the next 18 dc Vsts from previous row. 1 hdc V st in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st that you marked on previous row, 1 hdc in the last 10 sts. Sl st to first hdc to end this round. (43 hdc, 4 hdc V sts, 36 dc V sts)

Round 5

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 11 sts, 3 hdc sts in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, sk all the dc V sts from previous round (1^st arm opening), 3 hdc sts in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 24 sts, 3 hdc in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, sk all the dc V sts from previous round (2^nd arm opening), 3 hdc sts in the ch 1 sp of the hdc V st from previous round, 1 hdc in the next 9 sts, 2 hdc in the last st. Sl st on top of first hdc to end this round.

Round 6

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 56 sts, 2 hdc st in the last st. Sl st to first hdc to end this round. (58 hdc)

Round 7

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc in the nex next 57 sts. Sl st on top of first hdc to end this round. (58 hdc)

Round 8

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 56 sts, 2 hdc st in the last st. Sl st to first hdc to end this round. (58 hdc)

Round 9

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc in the nex next 57 sts. Sl st on top of first hdc to end this round. (58 hdc) 

Round 10

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the next 56 sts, 2 hdc st in the last st. Sl st to first hdc to end this round. (58 hdc)

Skirt Begins

Round 11

Ch 2, 1 shell st in the same ch 2 sp, sk 2 sts, * 1 shell st, sk 2. Repeat from * 18 times. Sk last st, sl st on top of ch 2 to end this round. (19 shell sts)

Round 12-17

Ch 2, *1 shell st in the ch 1 sp of the shell st from previous round. Repeat 19 times. Sl st on top of ch 2 to end this round.

Change to White

Round 18

Ch 2, * 4 hdc, ch 1, 4 hdc in the ch 1 sp of each shell st from previous round. Repeat from * 19 times. Sl st on top of ch 2 to end this round.

Round 19

Ch 2, * make 12 hdc sts in each ch 1 sp of the shell st from previous round. Repeat from * 19 times. Sl st on top of ch 2 to end this round. Fasten off here.

Round 20

Neck Edge

With the back of dress facing you, attach white yarn to the upper, left corner (across from the button hole).

Row 1

Ch1, make 1 hdc in each st around. Fasten off (64 hdc sts)

Heaband Instructions

Round 1

With Pink Mixed, Ch 52, sl st to join, Ch 2, make one hdc all the way around. Sl st to the top to the first hdc. (headband should measure 14 inches)

Round 2 

Ch 1, 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc all the way around. Sl st on top of first hdc. Fasten off here.

Flower instructions X4

Round 1

Using pink mixed yarn ch 3, make 11 hdc in the third ch from the hook, sl st on top of ch 3 to end this round. 

Change to White

Round 2

Ch 3, 1 bobble st in the next st, ch 3, sc in the next st (first pedal). Repeat 5 times. Fasten off here.

Finishing

Weave in any end that you may have forgotten.

Sew the button on the back.
